The Bristol Borough community is thrilled to announce an exciting event as part of the thirteen-month bicentennial celebration of Major General Lafayette’s triumphant return tour to America! On September 29th, 2024, we will honor Lafayette’s historic visit to our town, as part of a series of events tracing his footsteps during his Farewell Tour of America as the “Guest of the Nation” between 1824–1825.
In anticipation of the Bicentennial celebrations, Bristol Borough has joined with communities nationwide to bring awareness and excitement to this monumental occasion. The American Friends of Lafayette (AFL) has created a special video with Director James Lee to launch the countdown to the festivities.
Lafayette's enduring legacy, including the Franco-American alliance, his support for abolition, women's rights, and universal human rights, continues to resonate today, shaping the world we live in.
Our local event on September 29th will be one of many celebrations across the nation. Working with local volunteers, historians, and historical societies, we aim to create an unforgettable experience for Bristol Borough that reflects Lafayette’s impact on both America and the world.
We invite everyone to enjoy the AFL video and hope to see you at our Bristol Borough event to celebrate this extraordinary moment in history!
